Production Team
For the past couple years, I have been a member of a mobile church in Chicago that meets in a high school.

During this time, I have been an active member of the production team. We get to play a role in making this happen.

The production team is the first in and last out. I spend about 10 hours serving each week that I'm on roster.
I knew NOTHING when I started, but over time, I learned how to use all the equipment and was even made the Stage Lead.
My responsibilities have included:

Audio equipment set up and tear down

Lights set up and tear down

Mixing performers' in ears using the MyMon app

Building a notion page for stage set up

Editing and running ProPresentor: the software that controls the screen display during service

Troubleshooting technical issues

Training new team members

Designing and implementing new stage designs

Making Cat 5e ethernet cables and running them through the catwalk
And more!

I also designed and printed this cord organizer

We use an 100 ft XLR cable that requires at least 10 minutes of valuable set up time to untangle. I tried printing an organizer I found online, but it didn't work well scaled to the size we needed. I made a couple prototypes in OnShape then 3D printed this one to use instead.
Takeaways
What I learned:
-
Even if you feel unqualified, just try. Nothing will be fixed if you don't start trying new solutions. A solution not working teaches you what not to do next time.
-
Teamwork is critical to have the stage setup and technology working within a limited time period.
- No two days are the same, so always be ready to troubleshoot.
Skills I developed/refined:

-
Using and troubleshooting stage equipment
-
Working as a team under a time constraint
-
Collaborating with other teams (such as the events team)
-
Leadership and training
-
Exploring and implementing different stage designs
-
Rewiring Cat 5e cables
